Laurenz is a second-year medical student at Deakin University, with a biomedicine undergraduate background, and is passionate about both surgery and medical history. A native German and English speaker, he supports his studies by working as a tennis coach and tutoring high school and GAMSAT chemistry. His chemistry experience sparked a keen interest in the historical use of carbolic acid in antiseptic surgery, inspired by his Scottish heritage and the pioneering work of Joseph Lister.
