Toshiya Abe
Professional Bio
Dr Toshiya Abe is a hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon at Kyushu University Hospital, Japan. He is board-certified in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery. He completed a two-year research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University focused on pancreatic cancer. His clinical interests include minimally invasive and robotic pancreatic surgery. He served as first author of the 2025 Japanese clinical practice guideline for pancreatic cancer, gaining experience in multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based consensus building. His research focuses on early detection, familial pancreatic cancer surveillance, and cancer biology, aiming to translate evidence into improved surgical and oncologic care for patients in high-volume centers across Japan.
