Dr Buchanan is a GSET 3 trainee in Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand who has an interest in artificial intelligence, surgical computer vision, and UGI/HPB surgery. He recently completed a Master's of Medical Science in computer vision in laparoscopic cholecystectomy during training at the University of Otago, Christchurch in 2025.
